Fencing FAQ questions

At what age is it appropriate for a child to start fencing training?

▶ Children can start fencing training at the age of 6. By this age they already have good balance, concentration, and coordination, which can be further developed.

What are the benefits of fencing for physical and emotional development?

▶ Fencing develops speed, coordination, concentration, discipline, logical thinking, and self-control. It is a sport that benefits both the body and the character.

How often are the training sessions and how long do they last?

▶ Training sessions are held 3 times a week and last 60 minutes.

What is the price for fencing training?

▶ We offer both a monthly subscription — €60 per month — and prepaid sessions suitable for checking your child’s interest. All packages include discounts when purchasing a larger bundle.

What is needed for the first fencing training sessions?

▶ For the first sessions, your child only needs comfortable sports shoes and sportswear. The fencing equipment for beginners is provided by the club.

Do we need to buy our own equipment?

▶ The club provides everything needed for the first months. Personal equipment is recommended once the child begins participating in competitions.

Is fencing equipment expensive?

▶ Compared to other sports, fencing equipment is even more affordable. Once purchased, training equipment can be used for about 3 years, and professional equipment for up to 10 years. The only exception is the blade of the epee, as its lifespan depends directly on usage.

Is the sport safe and what safety measures are applied?

▶ Children train with certified protective equipment, under constant supervision by the coach, and following strict rules. Fencing is a very safe sport when practiced correctly.

How long does it take before a child can start competing?

▶ Most children participate in their first competitions after 6–12 months of training. There are also amateur tournaments for younger kids. Above all, participation in competitions depends entirely on the child’s desire.

Is individual training available if needed?

▶ Yes, we offer individual lessons that accelerate progress and help children who want to improve their technique or prepare for competitions. Individual fencing lessons are held on Tuesday and Thursday.
